Sports By The Balz is an independent sports news and opinion site. We cover the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and college sports, with extra attention on the Colorado teams we live and breathe: the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies. The opinions are loud. The facts are checked.
Meet the Balz brothers
Jim Balz and Harry Balz are twin brothers who have never agreed on a single game. Jim brings the bluster, Harry brings the bold predictions, and both bring receipts. They are the site’s signature characters, a satirical wink on top of real reporting: every score, stat and quote in their columns is researched and fact-checked before it runs.
The founder
Sports By The Balz was founded by Andrew Hahn Jr., who also founded The Hairy Times, our sister publication for news, politics, money and culture. Andrew edits and fact-checks everything published here. When a story crosses from the field into politics or business, you will usually find the bigger picture at The Hairy Times.
